Tattoo Apprenticeship Opportunity at Hammersmith Tattoo London

Hammersmith Tattoo London are looking for their next tattoo apprentice. Hammersmith Tattoo London was founded in 2009 and offers tattoos of the highest standard and we are looking for an apprentice to join our team of 7 artists and shop manager. We are proud to say that most of our artists completed the apprenticeship process within Hammersmith Tattoo London showing that this opportunity can bring great reward!

About the role:

The position is full time with a requirement to work 5 days a week during shop opening hours (most likely Thursday – Monday) with the aim of passing your apprenticeship in 1-2 years.
You will be assigned a mentor who best matches the style of work you hope to specialise in with the guidance of all artists when needed. You will learn tattooing practices from safety and hygiene to set up to finessing technique.
You will cover the front desk when not observing/ tattooing and assist the shop manager in any tasks that need completing.
We don’t believe in setting tasks unnecessarily to test you as an apprentice, but we will expect some cleaning and admin tasks to be completed as part of the working day.

What we require:

Talent: First and foremost, we will be looking for a candidate with a strong portfolio of work to show us. You must show knowledge of various tattoo styles and show us your best work – we want to see your dedication to the industry and respect for our profession. This is the most important requirement for us so do make sure your portfolio is polished and strong!
Professionalism: We require a candidate who speaks excellent English, in order to communicate well with clients, as well as being friendly and approachable. A good level of hygiene is also important.
Enthusiasm: You don’t need to have any previous tattooing experience, but you must know the basics of the industry. Have you been to any tattoo conventions? Have you got tattoos? Do you have any favourite tattoo artists? Do you know any history of tattooing? We’re looking for someone who shows dedication to researching the industry and gets stuck in when asked to help out.
